Effective: 11 July 2026
Smart Scan reads a document's text (using on‑device OCR) and, when you start it, can send that text to an AI model to suggest details such as the due date, amount and document type.
OCR and AI are not perfect. They can misread text, pick the wrong date or amount, or misclassify a document. Treat every suggestion as a starting point, not a fact.
Smart Scan results are shown to you as a draft for review. Nothing is saved as a reminder or record until you confirm it. Please check the suggested date, amount, type and any reminders before you confirm.
DueSoon and its AI features do not provide legal, financial, medical or other professional advice. Suggestions are for organisation and reminders only.
Smart Scan runs when you start it. If you turn on automatic mode — a Plus setting you enable yourself — Smart Scan can also run automatically for a document you scan or share when the on‑device read isn't confident. It never runs automatically for a forwarded or inbound email, and it always produces a draft you review before anything is saved. Documents stay on your device by default; only the text you send for a Smart Scan is processed by the AI provider, and the document file itself is not uploaded.
DueSoon does not make decisions for you and does not guarantee that a suggestion is correct. For important documents, verify the details against the original or the official source (for example, the biller, insurer or authority).
